AMODA

Introduction
The AMODA is a collarless modular hip system designed to allow the surgeon to choose an implant personalised to the needs of individual patients. Using design principles proven over 20 years, the Comis AMODA is the primary implant choice for many surgeons worldwide.
Implant Specification
Modular Stem
- Tri-taper
- Thicker proximal undercoat
- 9 sizes
Modular Spigot
- 12/14 Euro Taper
- 12 spigots with 3 sleeves provide 66 different head centre positions

Fixed Neck Amoda
- 2 sixes of neck, coupled with 3 sleeves provide 6 different offset options

With 9 stem sizes in total to allow for varying patient anatomy, the AMODA uses a unique grid sizing system to ensure the correct modular neck is chosen for the patient. This is done by ensuring leg length changes can be made without affecting femoral offset, and vice-versa.
Stability of the tri-taper implant design is further reinforced with a thicker proximal underspray, thereby preventing flagpole fixation.
The modular neck was designed with durability as a major priority. Manufactured out of titanium according to BS7252-3, the high fatigue resistance has been tested to the industry’s highest standards.
Instrument Philosophy
The AMODA instrumentation is designed to be as ergonomic and simple as possible, whilst allowing the surgeon to perform the operation using all surgical approaches. The space saving one-tray system makes the inventory much more cost effective from both procurement and re-sterilisation perspectives.
Comis Orthopaedics recommends that the Comis Leg Length Gauge is used alongside the AMODA system to ensure that accurate component positioning is achieved.
